Techno / Electro / Live Electronics
a network of intersecting nerves or blood vessels
Following on from a pair of collaborative one-off gigs featuring James Holden (Border Community/UK) & Omid 16B (SexOnWax/UK) 12 months apart, Brisbane promoter David Appleseed aka. DJ Shards felt something was missing in Brisbane's Techno Community & hit upon a formula for an event to bring together the established DJs who promoted their own; local Producers & Live performers who had been neglected in line-ups in recent years; and new Tech, Electro & Minimal practitioners that were not getting a look in at all.
The result was PLEXUS, and by the night of the first operation in May 2006 the line-up for the second had already been recruited- from a group of then-unknown Gold Coast Producers & DJs! With subsequent procedures supported by the Shamrock Hotel & now Über, it has been hailed for helping revive & restore South-East Queensland's Techno movement to new health. This prognosis continues to improve with the addition of Interstate & International talent to the script from the likes of Aril Brikha (Kompakt/Sweden), Echoplex (Soleil Records/Poland), Jackie Onassid (Dose Recordings/Byron), Monolake (Computer Imbalance/Germany) & Robert Babicz (aka Rob Acid- Systematic/Germany), and still more yet to come.
