DJ Damage - myspace bio

Having first fused with his decks in 1992, and being the proud owner of a comprehensive wax collection that was started almost 10 years earlier, DJ Damage's obsession with music and turntable skills left no one in doubt about the path his music career would take. Over the years this passion has provided the opportunity to work with some of the forefathers of the Brisbane/Australian Hip Hop scene as well as some of Brisbane's finest jazz & funk musicians.

In 1995 Damage was a collaborator on Brisbane's first signed hip hop release 'Jigsaw's Journal' which was featured on the 'Home Brews Vol. 2' compilation and distributed by Mushroom Records. Around 2000 Damage was invited to join the world-famous Terntable Jediz (DJ Sheep, Finatik, Krypton), this saw him jet-setting internationally, playing a string of dates at venues including London's famous club 'The Social', as well as playing to stellar crowds in Eindhoven and Berlin, in support of Phife Dawg (A Tribe Called Quest) and Hip Hop living legend Big Daddy Kane. A year later saw the Brisbane resident once again rocking Australian audiences side-by-side and on tour with Kanye West's world champion DJ ... A-Trak. So impressed by the Jediz were the clothing label ECKO, they immediately signed them to a major sponsorship deal.

Damage's skills and passion for turntablism have also seen him perform alongside World DMC champion DJ QBert, JRoc and Jazzy Jay on their 2003 'Scratch Tour', as well as appearing at a string major festivals and events such as Good Vibrations ... Big Day Out ... Parklife ... Livid ... Vibes On A Summer's Day and The Australian DMC Finals to name but a few.

DJ Damage is also a member of Brisbane's favourite Hip Hop act The Optimen, winners of the 2006 MusicOZ awards for Best Urban Artist and Best Film Clip and has toured extensively as the crew's official DJ. He has annihilated crowds at virtually every venue in Brisbane, and is set to bring the funk to his latest residency at Uber (November 2008) on Friday nights. What can you expect? Bangin' SOUL, FUNK, HIP HOP, DISCO from and era laced with the skills of classic turntablist.
